Historical Perspective of LALITHA AMMAVARU

The Deity in the above photo is the Ancestral Deity of the Yellamraju Family. It is the Deity of ‘Lalithambika - Lalitha Ammavaru’.

The writer is fortunate to be associated with it right from his childhood and as such is aware of some information about it. He was born in Tenali Town (1933), but grew up with his parents in Madras (present Chennai), and they used to go to Tenali every year to participate in Annual Navaratri celebrations lasting nine days and during this period prayers were offered thrice everyday. My grandfather and grandmother used to perform the prayers and as well taking the directions and assistance of the priests. As I grew up I also learned the importance and the value of the prayers carried out for the good of all (inclusive of the family). Also, my grandparents used to encourage my participation by entrusting the decorations part being left to my judgment.

Incidentally, I need to narrate that the above idol came to our grandparents as a gift to them from the local ‘Marwadi Mandir’. It is a well maintained and good Temple and I visited it several times as I liked the precincts. My grandfather was a lawyer of the place and was a consultant for the temple.
Above Deity was revered receiving daily prayers from my grandparents till 1953.

My parents inherited the Family Deity in 1954 after the demise of my grandfather and continued the tradition wherever they stayed by offering the prayers.

Myself and my wife were entrusted the taking over of the Family Deity in 1988 for the continuity of the as my mother fell sick and couldn’t perform. Ever since we have been offering the prayers and deriving immense satisfaction till today.

It is appropriate to mention that HER arrival in our home brought a sea change in me and my wife and our orientation not only to devotion, but also in all our activities and acceptance of life as it comes with complete faith in HER direction and guidance in all walks of our lives. I should also tell that the daily prayers of AMMAVARU are offered to the photo image, while the Annual Prayers are offered to the original Deity, as it has been the tradition. Also, this Deity received the Family Prayers for over 100 years and the family is fortunate to have HER Blessing.

Aura

A U R A As the title suggests, intend to write, my views, on the subject of Aura. It has been fascinating me for a while. The subject was just touched upon earlier in some of my Google Bloggs. The topic is difficult, not easy to deal with, nor well understood, and perhaps with barely any information and knowledge on it. All the same, venturing to vent out, with my scientific and religious background, with the earnest hope of drawing the attention of those interested to prioritize the study and studies on Auras and Aural investigations, benefiting mankind. Aura prevails and persists with all the forms of life, existing, thanks to Almighty, for believers. Aura surrounds, individuals, and individual living lives of humans, animals, inclusive of flying birds, sea borne animals, insects; and plants and plant life. Aura acts as a communicator for transference of useful information about the individual; as an example, let us consider a human being. The five basic elements, called ‘Pancha...

HINDU WORSHIP AND WISDOM

HINDU WORSHIP AND WISDOM   Hinduism engulfs ‘Hindu worship’, as one of the several Hindu practices. Worship of God, offering prayers, at home, and in Temples have been in vogue for ages past, and such practices have inculcated unity in the Hindus, wherever they may be. Such worship, helped the community to elevate themselves, both physically and mentally. Worship also provided a unifying force, for a form of orderliness in the prayers. Worship and prayers, got diversified with the passage of time, resulting in other forms of expressing devotion, like group singing, Nagara Sankeerthana, the evolution of discourses, pravachanas, a mix of dancing with singing, dancing with animals like oxen, and so on. Worship also provided other practices like involvement of animals like elephants, horses, camels, in pageantry; while monkeys and bears became a part of a form of puppetry; and so also the use of parrots and sparrows for trying once luck in predicting from astrological predetermi...
